Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day DS Game Reviews

Good for you., 14 Apr 2010

It's a good game that stimulates your brain all right. But It records your results only once a day, which is pain because then you can"t exactly practice at it and eventually get better such as in Big Brain Academy. Plus a lot of the features have to be unlocked by playing a number of days, etc. The touch/writing feature is a bit of a pain because it isn't always accurate. Apparently we're all supposed to write our letters a certain way in order to be recognized by the game. However if you have time to kill and aren't too easy bored by repeating the same exercises for days on end, then it's OK (Just not entertaining) Have to say my favorite feature is the change maker (because it seems the most useful in real life :)

even better than the first one, 19 Feb 2010

This has a variety of mini games to help exercise your mental abilities and enhance them. If a child uses products like this and sticks with it s/he will probably have a higher IQ.

They even have a game which helps you to relax! The game is a replica of Tetris / Dr Mario.

I wrote an article based off of the concepts of brain age.

this is worth buying, 16 Feb 2010

This has a variety of games to choose from and four different profiles you can set up if you are sharing your DS with someone. I prefer this to the first "Brain Age" that came out.

Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day!, 30 Jan 2010

I really enjoy Brain Age 2, especially after using Brain Age 1. Its fun and very challenging. I have learned how to use my Prefrontal Cortex to an extent that I notice the difference in thinking problems on how fast the answer comes to me. Its amazing. I would recommend Brain Age 2 to everyone no matter your age, after all, its changes every day. An exceptional and exciting fun game.

    A great game........., 8 Jan 2010

Brain age 2, has a few games to play when you start. Then as time passes you unlocked new games such as, on day 21 you get math recall(not true,an example!) The point of this game is to lower you brain age to 20 yrs old, I am a 20 year old college student with a 43 yr old brain! I have been playing brain age 2, to lower my brain to 20 and hopefully younger! This game is very good for those who are self-motativated and like to set and beat there own records there are no "rewards" for playing except playing virus buster after you complete one brain training activity. Virus buster is a block buster type game. If you are looking for something to play while on commute to work this is not the game for you, if you want to see if your brain is older than you are!-then buy it and you won't be disappointed. Furthermore, it really does train your brain. I started at 80 yrs old in Dec, now I am in my forties.

    Brain Drain, 21 Dec 2009

I bought this hoping that the creator moved to a new level from the first Brain Age. They did, but it was just the next level of tedium and boredom. Like most things, it was fun at first but it doesn't take the average intelligence long to master the games, and then that is about as far as it goes with this game! The piano portion was fun but it doesn't take long to get bored playing the same few songs over and over, and let's face it, you can only get so musical using a stylus! Thank Heaven I could trade it back to Amazon and build up credit to buy something else.

    Brain Age 2, 16 Dec 2009

This was such a fun game, i play it all the time it really challenges your mind- exactly as it says it does! the only thing i would say i don't like is that the game freezed a couple of times while playing and i know it wasn't because of my ds because i put in other games and it did not freeze at all but the game itself is so much fun and a family favorite for sure!

Still some annoyances!, 21 Oct 2009

My issues with this game don't have to do with the games themselves as they are pretty fun. My complaints are with the design. I don't like being forced to do the little activities it often requires before you can begin training. There should be an option to turn then off or skip them. I still think your scores should save even if it's not the first time that day you played the game. One of my favorite games on this is the Virus Buster. I am totally addicted to the game itself but, again, frustrated with the design. First, there is no way to pause it. Which is really frustrating when you've got a great score going but then get distracted. Second, like the other games, it only saves your score once a day. I don't like games that try to regulate my play and it seems that both this and its predecessor do just that.

Brain Age helps!, 13 Sep 2009

I received a Ninetindo DS for my birthday and was looking for something besides games. Brain Age was the perfect selection. I can play it anywhere -- waiting in line or for an appointment. The first time I played it my 'brain age' was 77 and now it's 55! Thanks!

    Its Okay, 12 Sep 2009

The "tests" are fun to take and can be frustrating at times, but there is a sense of accomplishment when you see the improvement from beginnig till now. The good news I can still score better than my grandkids. First time I took my brain age test I was 82, I'm now 52! Pratice does help. Helps to follow instuctions (my wife loves that). Could do with a little less or different "conversation" from the doctor though. He "says" the same thing every time!

Not bad. But needs more puzzles., 11 Sep 2009

Have not used the first version of Brain Age.

This is entertaining, varies in challenge level, and probably does stimulate the brain as it claims.

Has some neat little "games", or training challenges.

I like the Soduku games. But it would be nice if there were more, or if you could download weekly puzzles.

I can always do the Soduku puzzles over again. It's not like I will remember the exact answers/layout from the first time.

Great For Kids, 19 Jul 2009

I babysit my sister's kids a lot and I'm very concerned about the kind of games they play at home. Always playing games, shooting and killing zombies, all that kinda stuff isn't doing much for their education. If anything, it brings it down, they never do their homework, because they are too busy playing games. Well, at my house this game is one I don't mind them playing, and they actually like it. They learn new things in a fun and interesting way without it being boring. It's great for kids and I'm really glad I got it.

Love This Game, 2 Jul 2009

During a recent illness I needed to be quiet and still so my husband bought me a Nintendo DSI and I purchased Brain Age 2. It's great! Lots of neat games that make you think and a virus game that is similar to Tetris and loads of fun. My husband got a DSI for Father's day and we share the game. It asks us to do acrostics and draw pictures and then compare them to each others, or to name what we think the other person's picture is. Great for waiting at the MD office, traveling to the MD office, or doing something that is not everything else I've had to do to be still and quiet. I'm not a video game person by any means. I'm 50 and my husband is 57. We both really like it. However, this would not be appropriate for younger children; I would say older teen and up.

    Great for 6+, 28 Jun 2009

This is great for kids 6+. When my son was 5, he struggled a little bit. So did we, with some of the word puzzles! Otherwise it is a good buy.

Better for the kids than any game, 16 Jun 2009

I got this game for a very bright 9 year old child as a birthday gift. His parents told me that it was the only thing he was interested in playing with out of all his gifts. He was totally absorbed in trying to beat his previous scores in math and letter puzzles. For the right kid this game is a 10.

Very inconsistent handwriting recognition, 7 Jun 2009

This game is frustrating. The handwriting recognition works just well enough to make the game enjoyable and challenging. But the same handwriting recognition also fails enough times to make you cuss at the game more than you should.

The games are extremely time sensitive. A difference of even one second makes all the difference in your score. I must admit the frustration level reaches a high level when a score is substantially reduced only because the handwriting recognition misconstrues say "4" as a "21".

I have some doubts whether this game makes a person more mentally acute. The game's origin has some dubious scientific authenticity.

Overall, I half recommend this game. It would be so much better and far less frustrating if it had a more consistent handwriting recognition.

Warning! Not suitable for true Brits!!, 9 Nov 2008

This is truly a fun game, BUT BEWARE as this is the USA version, and if you are happy with an icebox for a fridge, and you know the difference between an american dollar and a dime, then this is for you. However, having "earned" the opening of the "giving change" game, my fun quickly dissolved as I was quite unable to tell which coins were which, because I have never handled US dollars. Otherwise, so far as I can tell, this is the USA equivalent of More Brain Training, which is the European one we see advertised by Patrick and Julie on the TV. Enjoy...
