    I was very impressed, 19 Feb 2010

This includes various mini games to exercise your mental abilities. The random tips given really help you to think outside of the box. You can give yourself mental exercises at any time in any given situation.

I wrote an article which is based off of some concepts in the game.

Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day!, 30 Jan 2010

I am very pleased with this game, I can already tell my math skills have improved. I share this game with my sister and she can't stand this game and gets very frustrated. Her main complaints are that the game misreads her handwriting and marks her otherwise correct answers wrong. Plus the voice feature marks correct answers wrong too if you are not close enough to the microphone of do not speak clearly. I really like this game and will learn in the future to have better speaking skills and handwriting. Awesome game.

Only on the DS, 11 Jan 2010

This kind of brain strength can only be found on the Wii or DS. PSP or playstation or Xbox cannot deliver games like this. This "game" or brain trainer cartridge is unique and really works, do your brain a favour and get this game, use it or lose it.

    Brain Age, 31 Dec 2009

It is nice to find a "game" that will challenge the kids academically and this seems to do just that. We have not had it long but the kids (11 and 5) seem to both enjoy the game.

Side games are more fun then game itself., 28 Dec 2009

This game contains a few tests for your "Brain Age" that are somewhat entertaining and challenging. Apart from having to memorize 30 words and say colors out loud, I didn't find it too challenging. My Brain stayed at the ripe age of 21. (I'm 26, so I thought that might be good) I do like to play the side games, Sidoku mostly. If you are really trying to sharpen your mind skills, I would suggest getting a game with strategy involved. Or learn a new language. The Professor Layton games are much more enjoyable nad have some of the same challenges.

    Brain Drain, 21 Dec 2009

Loved this game...at first. I couldn't wait to dive into the programs and prove once and for all that I was either a super brain, or as dumb as dirt! It's hard to get a true idea with this game because of the poor voice and written recognition. This appears over and over in the other reviews, so it wasn't an isolated incident with my game. It made it frustrating, but I learned to write and speak a certain way and it would perform better. It appears the only real object of the whole thing is to just keep practicing the same games over and over until you do better. You never really advance to anything new and different; just keep repeating the same thing like a trained animal. What good are the cognitive skills if you are bored stiff?! Fortunately I could trade it back to Amazon for credit and move on to something else.

Fun game for entire family, 5 Nov 2009

I had purchased this game for myself, but my eight year old daughter enjoys this as much as i do if not more. There are a few games in different categories designed to exercise the brain for a few minutes everyday. Lot of fun.

This really is strangely addictive, 3 Nov 2009

I don't know what it is but Brain Age is freakishly addictive. I've only had it for about four days but I've played it every day for at least an hour. I do the little training exercises. I play a couple rounds of Sudoku. Then I turn it off. An hour later I turn it back on and play Sudoku some more. I go through the math training exercises again for fun. Now obviously I won't do this forever but I can see myself playing this game at least a couple of times a week from now on. It's just that type of game. You can pick it up, play for a little bit, turn it off, and come back when you have a couple of minutes free. And it's fun. Okay, maybe math doesn't sound fun to everyone but I like it. It's fun to see how much faster I can get the answers. And I just unlocked a new training exercise which gives me a sense of accomplishment. Maybe I'm just easy to please. When I bought Brain Age I was wondering if I would like it. Now I have my answer. Plus, the inclusion of Sudoku was a nice touch. I've never really been able to do Sudoku before but I'm getting the hang of it pretty quickly. The notation system was nice and easy to use and I love that it'll tell you when you make a mistake. Obviously an improvement over a book where you can make mistakes and not know when or where you went wrong.

I'm sure plenty of people have mentioned it but there are a few issues with the game. I do have trouble with the Stroop Test (say the color of the text, not the word) recognizing what color I'm saying. I have a quiet voice so usually I just hold the DS a little closer to my mouth. Problem solved. My biggest problems were actually in the writing. I make my 7s with a line through the middle. Obviously I had to stop doing that while playing Brain Age. It gets confused. I make my 8s with two circles. Sometimes if I didn't write fast enough Brain Age thought I was making zeroes. So I had to switch to the figure 8 for the game. And last but not least my 5 was apparently confusing the Sudoku game. Sometimes it thought I was making notes instead of writing 5. But that's also a pretty easy thing to fix. Occasionally I get confused letters for the memorize the words game but I think my handwriting is just bad. That's not really even a problem. After the initial breaking in period I've been fine with Brain Age's little quirks. It certainly doesn't interfere with my enjoyment.

    fun stuff, 24 Sep 2009

Love puzzles, but some parts of it were ridiculous. Like inputting numbers for the math was difficult. It kept thinking my 4s were 9s. It assumed some of my answers were finished because I picked up my stylus. But other than that, I greatly enjoyed the game.

Difficult to use, 22 Sep 2009

The portion you speak, rather awkward in public, plus, "say red", this is rated incorrectly. Also, when trying to write mathematical answer, it takes the first stroke, flashes wrong back at you, and you haven't completed drawing the number. It should be rated according to grade level, not imply it is for adults.

Keep young, keep sharp, 9 Sep 2009

At first I was disheartened when it calculated my brain age somewhere in the 80s (I am 48) - but I put that down to not being very familiar with all the methods used and indeed the software misinterpreting my handwriting. I had to relearn how to make my '4' for example. Also, my tendency to combine two-digit numbers will confuse it too - so I have to make a deliberate '2' followed by a '0' instead of '20'. Finally I was achieving brain age scores in the low 30's which makes me happy.

But the real fun of this game cartridge is the inclusion of Sudoku puzzles. I had somehow managed to avoid the Sudoku phenomenon, but figured I'd give them a try as they are included here as a bonus. Well, needless to say MANY hours of enjoyment have literally flown by (great way to pass time on an airplane) and I am not far from completing the set of Advanced Sudoku puzzles.

Things that keep this software fun and entertaining is how they will reward you with new modules the more you keep coming back (this is monitored by collecting 'stamps' on a calendar). Also, the animated face of Dr. Ryuta Kawashima can be emotive and encouraging. He tells you he feels sad when you miss a day, and is overjoyed when you come back on successive days. A little bit like a Tamagotchi, I suppose.

I have already purchased Brain Age 2 and will progress on with it after I've unlocked all the modules in Brain Age.

Simple games and puzzles, 1 Sep 2009

I have to say this game is fun but its not the first one i pick up when I want to relax with my DS. The games are very simple, they take you back to your elementary days in terms of skill levels. The math portions are everyday math uses we all use (or a few of us use, simple math seems to elude some people). I'm not a sudoku fan so this portion is useless to me.

School for your Brain, 17 Aug 2009

I enjoy challenging my brain every day. My brain started out being older than I was. Now it's reversing in age. Very good exercise for the brain.

Voice Recognition Faulty, 16 Aug 2009

It doesn't recognize my speech the majority of the time. I spent hours just trying to get through the initial "brain age test" because it didn't comprehend when I said 'blue'. That was unbelievably frustrating. I also tried the nonverbal test, but it didn't recognize most of my writing either. I even spent five minutes trying to write the number 'one' for it. Honestly, how can you misread the number one? It's not as if I have an accent either. My speech is very plain/average and lacks most geographic distinction.

I can't say much else about the game. I couldn't really play it since interacting with it is such a crucial part. I'm just extremely disappointed. I really don't recommend wasting your money on this.

Fun game for all ages!!!, 3 Aug 2009

This is one of my favorite games, it's so much fun and really keeps your mind sharp. Like your body your mind also needs exercise.

This game is great for people of all ages. I find it helpful as a student to start my school day off playing it. It's really exciting when you beat your best score or get a new brain training activity.

The trainer is really funny and makes training your brain both fun and enjoyable.

    I strongly recommend this game!

    Not really a game, 18 Jul 2009

I like brain age but you can't buy it expecting a game. You can't really spend tons of time on it in a day because other than Sudoku you can only access each activity once a day. I have found that my math skills are improving and I like the challenge of doing better than the day before.

    I LOVE this game!, 6 Nov 2008

This game has helped my ability to think fast. I am a third year math major who still lacks the necessary processing speed to get a solid 4.0. I have only had this game for 2 weeks and already I have noticed an increase in my computational speed. It has nothing to do with the knowledge of adding, subtracting, etc. but more to do with how you juggle the computation in your head. Although the practice is elementary in the game, it definitely has helped me in my upper division classes simply because my reaction time has increased. Believe it or not, I can actually "feel" my brain exercising while playing this game. I do agree that there are a few minor voice and character recognition glitches, but these are easy to fix as long as you practice their recognition techniques.
