I bought this for my grandkids, age 7,9,11,13,& 14 and it gets a good review from all of them. There is lot of noise and laughter when they play so I think that makes it very good. I personally have never clicked a wii button, but love to see happy kids! (The overall 4 stars is only because sometimes they tend to argue a bit.)

This game lives up to the reputation of all the Mario Kart games. Perfect in its portability. A great bargain in that you and several friends can race - wirelessly - on only one game cartridge. The game features all of the beloved characters from Mario's world. The on track "pick-ups" and hazards are all there. If you've played and enjoyed this game on any of the living room consoles, you'll get a real kick out of the portable version as well. My wife and I enjoy playing the game as much as my son does.
Nintendo has some sure fire hits, and this is one of them to be sure. The longer you play the more tracks you'll unlock, which just adds to the fun. There are re-imagined classics and brand new offerings, too. Lots of re-playability. Honestly, if you're a racing fan, you just can't go wrong. Lots of bang for your buck packed into this souped up speedster.

My 7 year old always gravitates to this game and says it's her favourite (and amongst her friends too) there are lots of games with different tracks it's a classic "game" in that you are a character and race against other characters (mario, princess peach, toad, etc.,) and is fast paced and hard to play if you are a novice but you can pick it up rather quickly. The farther you advance the more racetrack options you receive and the more characters you can become. This is well worth getting if you are thinking of getting a DS for your 5+ year old.

It came pretty quickly and the game is good fun, especially with 2 or more players.

I bought this game for my 7 year old son and he absolutely loves it. I like the fact that it has many different levels and the higher the score more levels are unlocked. We bought this for the DS and for the Wii. I am not very good at the game but I am getting better.

I find this game (among MKDD) to be the best in the series. Mario Kart is always about multiplayer mode. Once you finish the Championship mode you never go back and keep playing multiplayer. Fast paced as the Gamecube version (snaking included!), great tracks and good control are the key point. LAN and Internet gameplay make this game the best in the multi-player aspect.

As far as handheld gaming consoles go, I'm a newbie. I grew up with the original NES and SNES (which I still play on, and this January, I decided to go ahead and buy a DSi. Mariokart was the first game I bought to play, and I love it. I've always been a racing and platform gaming freak, so I was just drawn to it. I've had this game for about three months and I STILL love playing on it. There are tons of "unlockables" (courses, characters) and you can always go back and race again and try to beat your score. I've only played around with the multi-player aspect of this game once, but it seems to offer challenges and a lot more fun. If you're into the racing genre of games, and liked the previous versions of Mariokart, this is definitely worth checking out, I loved that they had different tracks from older versions of this game too! All in all, I think it was worth the money I paid for and will continue to enjoy this game.

BOUGHT THIS GAME FOR MY SONS 8TH BIRTHDAY. HE REALLY ENJOYS IT. Well worth it!
Source: [amazon.co.uk]
I bought this game for my 5 year old son to play on his DS Lite. He had gotten Super Mario Bros. and loved it so I thought Mario Kart would be the next logical game in the succession. It is a little harder for him to play so for those who are novices with the DS or very young like he is, expect some frustration. But for those who have a good handle on game play it falls in line with the rest of the classic Super Mario games.

If you've played Mario Kart on any other console before and liked it, get it! This is the one you can carry around with you and play everywhere... Highly addictive!

My son has been waiting for a Mario game and I could not see paying 35.00 for one game. Amazon is the place to buy. My son loves the game. It was the right price. It came in just a few days. I purchase a lot of items off Amazon and have never been disappointed.

My 6yr old got a dsi for his birthday but not this game. He couldn't wait to spend his birthday money on this game for the ds. He loves it on our N64 and he hasn't been disappointed with it on his dsi.

A mate of mine had to sell his DS because he couldn't stop playing Mario Kart. It's really that addictive. It's worth having two copies to race other players, too.

Mario Kart, comes fully loaded with classic characters, a bunch of new tracks, and a wireless multiplayer mode that's to die for. With a veritable buffet of racers, courses, modes, and multiplayer options, Mario Kart DS is a must play for any Nintendo fan and a requisite for any DS owner.

This game is immense. In my opinion, and many of my chums', it is basically a part legend, part mix and match of old features and new ones and part DS legend (sorry, I just have to stress this part!). The single player is very good, with a range of unlockables and characters, and the multiplayer is truly brilliant. Whether your style is a leisurely game with your friends or a nerve-racking extreme battle on Nintendo WFC, I guarantee (hand on heart) you will LOVE IT!

My daughter is hooked on this game. Well, so am I and my husband. This is a wonderful game for the family and well worth the money. This won't disappoint you.

This is a great kart-based racing game that Nintendo knows inside and out. There is a good amount of customization and the characters are colorful & animated. This is a game for all audiences as well. There are tons of tracks that you can play over and over to get the best grade/amount of stars, and multi player and wifi connection makes this game great with your friends/family, and even with people around the world! I bought this game about 4 years ago and it is still one of the games I play most on my DS. In all, don't hesitate to buy this game. It truly a "must-have" for the DS and will be a fun playing experience for you and everyone else you decide to race against!

I got this for my wife (who loves playing Mario Kart on the Wii). She has had a blast racing with it. I highly recommend it.

This is one of my first and fav DS games. Fantastic racing except i still dunno how to unlock more tracks for multiplayer...
Rocks!!

My kids (5 &9) loved it. My husband, not that much although he likes to play all my kid's games. He said the Pokemon series or the Starwars series are more entertaining for him. The big plus is that I only had to buy one so both my kids can play at the same time, which is not the case with the others mentioned above.

This game has many fun features and has the capacity for hours of fun just playing alone or with a friend who has the game.

The game is perfect, can't get my 8 y/o away from it & the service from Amazon, as always, is brill! I ordered game 2 days before Christmas, through the ordinary post and it arrived the next day, so I still had time to wrap it! Good job Amazon!

I played on a friends copy of this game and thought it would make a great Christmas present for my 13 year old daughter. I was right! She loves it! There are plenty of tracks to race on, you can choose your vehicle and your driver and as you increase your skill levels more races become available to you. Don't worry if you already have the game on wii; we have both and my daughter loves them both.

Why is it so dangerouse? Because this game is so good you lose track of time. This is one of the first DS games I have bought and I have trouble putting it down! Great game!

We have this game for the Wii, just bought the DS version... my son has a blast with this game.

On this you get to race on your favret carictors and battel your favret carictors. One of the best mario games. If your not happy with kart your in you can change it.

This has been a hit with my six year old son who got it for Christmas. It is easily his favourite game. He enjoyed the excitement of the different courses. My five year old girl also enjoys it.

Have this game for the Wii so we wanted for the DSi also. Love it!

Haven't had the DS very long - but the kids love it. Saw 4 students (incl my son) at a local basketball game that had never met. They were synched on the DS and playing this game! Pretty cool!

This game is great fun and keeps the kids amused. Other players can join in and race against each other as well. I highly recommend it.

My daughter has this on wii but wanted it on nintendo ds, so I bought it her for Christmas. I dont think she stopped playing with it the whole of the holidays. It is well worth the money for excitment and entertainment factor. Both the ds and the wii are super value for money

I bought it for my friend's children but at the end we (2 men over 30) played with it :-)

I never had an interest in playing video games. I bought my son a DS for xmas and bought this Mario Kart as a starter game. I will never be a fan of video games, but I played a few times and found it quite entertaining. My son is playing this day and night.

I LOVE Super Mario and all of the games that deal with Mario. I got this game for Christmas, along with 3 other ones and I have played this one the most. It's so much fun to do the different races and I can play this game for hours on end because it's so addicting.

Bought as last one got lost and the kids love this game. Great for teaming up with others to play against

I remember playing mario kart with all my friends back on the snes in the early 90's and now I play it on the Wii and the DS with all my friends and family... The game is still as much fun if not more with new tracks, moves, cars, bikes and items to chuck at each other helping to keep up the interest and the competitiveness just as it use to lol

This game is the most fun. I'm a 37 year old mom and I love this game as much as my kids! We've had it for over a year and it's still the most popular game they play (together and alone).

My 5 year old loves it, has it on the wii too, but much prefers the DS version
Source: [amazon.co.uk]
I love this game, I just wish it was a little longer.... Like if there were 5 laps in each race as opposed to 3 (except Baby Park)
Other than that, I love it =D

This game is a BIG hit with all of my elementary school aged children (5-12 years). It is nice to see them all playing harmoniously together. So few of the games we have interest the whole crowd or let them all play simultaneously. Kudos to Mario Kart DS.

I bought this game about 3 years ago, and I'm still not bored of it today! With your original Nintendo characters, yet still retaining the charm of the older games, this game is a must for new or more experienced players.
This game has several modes of play, each very original and different. You are also able to play as the lovable Mario characters that the public fell in love with.
This game is one that I've never regretted buying, and would definitely recommend to friends, family or even random strangers!

I bought this for my 6 year old son along with the actual console for his Birthday back in August (Its now November) and he has not tired of it one little bit. I have bought him other games, but he just keeps returning to this game. I haven't played on it but my husband has and he has said that its the type of game that you just can't put down, so if you want to keep your child quiet on a plane for a good few hours (which was why I bought the ds in the first place), go for this game, you won't be disappointed!

This item was purchased as a gift for our grandson in Cardiff. He is thoroughly delighted with this game. He is nine years old

Mariokart is great fun - not as entertaining as a Wii, but still excellent.
The time trial section is an ideal method for practicing and monitoring improvement.
One set of circuits are not as visually interesting as the other set and they seen a little basic.
Would certainly recommend this game.

Now I must confess we bought this only after much deliberation for our 6 yr old daughter given that the previously purchased Wii version was already a favourite. Can't compete we thought, will be a let down, waste of money but several long journeys needed a distraction using the DS so we reluctantly took the plunge.
How wrong we were! Despite being 'old hat' as it has been around a while and also having to be compared with the Wii version, our daughter absolutely loves it. And the evidence of her friends also points to this still being very much a hit in DS form.
So, 5/5 for fun measured on giggle production and willingness to play it again and again and again........4/5 overall as the price is still stubbornly high but that must reflect the fact Nintendo have got a long term winner here.

This was a present for a 5 year old and he seems very pleased with it as he plays it all the time
